The gloves are available from a weight of 10 ounces - in training, heavier gloves are usually used in sparring to keep the risk of injury low and to increase the training effect. Some children also use boxing gloves from 6 Oz to 8 Oz.l
The specification of the number of ounces in boxing gloves says something about the weight of the gloves. It is not a size specification and does not say anything about the hardness or thickness of the padding.
The weight of an ounce is 28.35 g. In amateur boxing, gloves with a weight of 283.5 g (equivalent to 10 oz) are required for the competition.
