The Italian sportswear brand Kappa was founded in Turin in 1967 and has been an integral part of international sports fashion and sponsorship ever since. The iconic Kappa logo - two models sitting back to back - was created by chance during a photo shoot and today symbolizes fairness and recognition between men and women in sport. Kappa was one of the first brands to recognize the potential of sports sponsorship. In the 1970s, Kappa began supporting football teams, starting with Juventus, the first Italian team to be sponsored. Other top international clubs followed, such as AC Milan, FC Barcelona, ​​AS Roma and Ajax Amsterdam, all of which enjoyed great success at European level.
Kappa also expanded into other sports, becoming one of the main sponsors of the New York Marathon in 1981. During the 1980s, Kappa outfitted top athletes such as Carl Lewis, Edwin Moses and Florence Griffith-Joyner, who won medals at the Olympic Games and other major competitions. Kappa is known for innovative designs that are both functional and stylish. In 2000, the brand introduced the form-fitting "Kool Kombat" football jersey, which caused a stir for the Italian national team at the Euro 2000. Since 2000, Kappa has also had a strong presence in the German Bundesliga.
