MMA Gloves

There are different MMA gloves: the classic freefight gloves with 4oz weight and low cushioning for competitions and light sparring or graapling, the thicker Shooto glove, an MMA glove with stronger cushioning and 7oz weight and various hybrid variants. The most common mistake people make when deciding to buy an MMA glove is closely related to the popularity of the competition gloves. Think carefully about whether and how you mainly want to train with it. Although the competition glove is ideal for pad or sandbag training and also for ground techniques, grips and throws, it is not so suitable for "everyday sparring" - in contrast to the Shooto or hybrid models - because the damping is too low. So if you mainly train in stand-up, you are better off with the more cushioned 7 oz MMA gloves. When looking for the right MMA glove, pay attention to solid wrist support and clean workmanship.
