Hoodies

Hoodie comes from the English hooded sweatshirt and is usually simply called a hooded sweater in German, which also automatically describes the cut of the upper part. It is usually a sweatshirt with an attached hood (which has drawstrings to tie the hood). The hoodies often also have a kangaroo pocket (tunnel-like fanny pack) or side pockets if the hoodie goes through a zipper in the direction of the “jacket”. This variant of the hoodie is called a zipper. The history of the hoodie begins around 1930 when the clothing manufacturer Champion in new York made these jackets for workers in freezer warehouses...later the manufacturer became popular for its streetwear and sportswear.
